Elderflower Whiskey Sour

A golden elderflower whiskey sour cocktail in a rocks glass garnished with a lemon twist and cherry on a slate coaster

A refined twist on the classic whiskey sour — Jameson Select Reserve meets elderflower syrup for a smooth, floral, perfectly balanced cocktail.

  • Yield: 2 drinks
  • Prep: 5 min
  • Cook:
  • Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients

  • 120 ml Jameson Select Reserve (double shot per person: 60 ml each)
  • 50 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 30 ml elderflower-flavoured syrup (adjust to taste if your syrup is very sweet)
  • 1 egg white
  • 4–6 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Ice

Directions

  1. Dry shake (important): Add the whiskey, lemon juice, elderflower syrup, egg white, and Angostura bitters to a shaker without ice. Shake hard for 15–20 seconds to emulsify the egg white.
  2. Shake with ice: Add ice and shake again for 15 seconds until well chilled.
  3. Strain: Double-strain into two chilled coupe or rocks glasses (no ice for a classic sour, or over a large cube if preferred).
  4. Finish: Add 1–2 extra dashes of Angostura on top of the foam for aroma.

Tasting Notes

  • Jameson Select Reserve gives vanilla, toasted wood, and spice
  • Elderflower syrup softens the lemon and adds a subtle floral lift
  • Angostura balances sweetness with gentle bitterness
